Get an in-depth look at the evolution of Peter’s rig across his whole tenure with Goose!
Late 2017 to September 2020
Since Peter joined Goose at the end of 2017, the only permanent part of his rig has been the Nord Stage keyboard. In 2018, his second board, a synth, cycled through a Moog and a Prophet Rev2 before settling on the Nord Lead A1, which would remain a mainstay until September 2024.
Peter’s keyboards were accompanied by a sustain pedal and an expression pedal for the Stage.

September 2021 to December 2021
For the 4848 and Sea.Hear.Now festival dates in September, Peter backlined a Hammond B-3, presumably to test it out as part of the rig - he also experimented with different layouts. The 4848 rig also included a Fender Rhodes Mark II in place of the Vintage Vibe.

September 2022 to December 2022
There were some changes to more behind-the-scenes aspects of Peter’s rig for the Dripfield Fall Tour. Aside from replacing the Moog Matriarch with a Prophet-6, Peter changed amplification for the clavinet a number of times as well as did some pedal-swapping. Read on for more!

The Hammond is run through a 1967 Leslie rotating speaker and the clavinet is run through Peter’s Fender Deluxe Reverb amplifier. During the Dripfield Fall Tour, Peter experimented with different combinations of amplification for his guitar and clav - at times, both were running through the Deluxe Reverb and out his new Hard Truckers cab, and they each had times where they were running through the new Firestorm amp as well.
Clavinet effects pedals (in order of signal chain): CryBaby Classic wah → PolyTune Mini (to remove feedback when clav is not in use) → MXR Phase 90 → Strymon Compadre compressor → Chase Bliss Tonal Recall Delay Pedal (switched with TC Flashback 4x, which now resides on Peter’s guitar pedalboard, a spot previously occupied by the Tonal Recall)
Vintage Vibe effects pedalboard (in order of signal chain): Strymon TimeLine delay → Meris Mercury7 reverb → Strymon Iridium amp modeler. The Vibe’s built-in effects loop has a Walrus Audio Julianna Analog Chorus/Vibrato. The Mercury7 has an expression wheel (seen below) and there is a volume pedal for the Nord Lead on the same board.
Beginning with the November 2022 TABoose tour, Peter’s Vintage Vibe is amplified by a stereo console - a take on the classic Rhodes “suitcase.”

The clavinet shares a Fender Deluxe Reverb amplifier with Peter’s guitar.

April 2024
There were some massive changes made to Peter’s rig in early 2024 - the band gained a full-time guitar and keyboard tech on board (shoutout Will Cunliffe!) who significantly upgraded a lot of the behind-the-scenes aspects of Peter’s rig. Additionally, Peter began experimenting with new synths and effects on the organ and clav.

Clavinet Effects: Dunlop MC404 CAE Wah, TC Electronics Polytune3 Mini (to remove buzz when clav is not in use), MXR Phase 90, Strymon Compadre Compressor + Boost, Moog MF-104M Delay, Chase Bliss Tonal Recall delay
The clavinet is also outfitted with a Vintage Vibe Pre-Amp, giving Peter access to specific EQ settings and a sharp envelope-filter effect to use instead of the wah pedal at times.

June 2024 to October 2024
In between April and June, things were tightened up and effects swapped out, most notably on the clav board. The rig remained mostly the same other than a few changes to reverb and delay. Peter also experimented with a Nord Stage 4 instead of the 3 for a number of shows - evidenced by a Nord without the Gooseboat sticker appearing on stage, but eventually returned to the 3 as his mainstay. The Stage 4 lives backstage in the rehearsal room.
Clav effects: Dunlop MC404 CAE Wah, TC Electronics Polytune3 Mini (to remove buzz when clav is not in use), MXR Phase 90, Strymon Compadre Compressor + Boost, Chase Bliss Tonal Recall delay, Meris Mercury7 Reverb, JHS Mini Foot Fuzz
Organ effects: Walrus Audio Slö Reverb → Strymon El Capistan Tape Echo → Chase Bliss Mood MKII
September 2024
The big change for September was the replacement of longtime rig staple Nord Lead with a new Moog Muse, a switch that happened on the second show of tour. Most notably, the Muse allows Peter to put the Slow Ready arpeggiator on a programmed loop, freeing him up to improvise during the jam instead of having to trigger it manually. There were also some changes to effects boards, as Peter is always trying new things.

Clav effects: Dunlop MC404 CAE Wah, TC Electronics Polytune3 Mini (to remove buzz when clav is not in use), MXR Phase 90, Strymon Compadre Compressor + Boost, Chase Bliss Tonal Recall delay, Meris Mercury7 Reverb, JHS Mini Foot Fuzz
Organ effects: Walrus Audio Slö Reverb → Strymon El Capistan Tape Echo → Chase Bliss Mood MKII → EHX Micro POG
October 2024 to February 2025
No major changes came with the stage plot change in late October, though Peter added an Elektron Octatrak MKII to his rig on 10/24/24 in Nashville - this sequencer helps lock in the arpeggiated synth sounds and loops with the band’s click track

Organ effects: Walrus Audio Slö Reverb → Strymon El Capistan Tape Echo → Chase Bliss Mood MKII → Meris Mercury7 Enzo → Chase Bliss Clean Compressor (added in February 2025)
Peter now has a Roland SPD-SX (formerly in Jeff’s rig) on top of the organ to control the band’s in-ear click track and trigger other sound effects.

Moog Muse effects: Meris Mercury7 Reverb → Boss DC-2W Dimension C

April 2025 to Present
Starting at Jazz Fest on 4/24, Peter switched to the Nord Stage 4 and replaced the Moog Muse with a Roland JUNO-60. By Viva El Gonzo, he had gone back to the Stage 3 plus updated his sequencer and sampler setup.
Peter replaced the Elektron Octatrak and Roland SPD-SX with an Ableton Push 3, which combines all the sequencer and sampler needs the other two pieces used to cover. While the Ableton sits on top of the Vintage Vibe next to the OB-6 (where it pulls samples from), Peter also added an Arturia MiniLab 3 on top of the organ so he can trigger things on the Ableton while facing the other way without having to spin back and forth.
