LA LOM made a stop in Richmond last night to perform as part of the city’s “Friday Cheers” series, a weekly outdoor show taking place at the scenic Brown’s Island on the James River.
The venue itself is little more than a small stage set up at one end of a park, a highway overpass directly in the background and a set of train tracks running just to one side, giving the whole show a beautiful intimate vibe.
Performing for just around 90 minutes, LA LOM managed to evade the early-evening rain that had swept through the city and played in a gorgeous temperature, the field filled with audience members dancing to the infectious grooves and beats for the duration.
As always, the California-based trio was a fantastic show – both their musicianship and boisterous stage presence blending for a fantastic community-centric vibe to kick off the weekend, especially since I woke up yesterday morning not even knowing that they were in town.
LA LOM continues up the east coast this week before heading back to their hometown for a big show at the Wiltern later this month. Check their tour dates and absolutely go see them if they’re in your area!
