NOTE: This is, of course, a completely hypothetical release. No vinyl or otherwise will exist in real life - listen via the Nugs playlist and use your imagination :)
2022 was an incredibly important year for Goose! So much so that it has been incredibly difficult to fit it all onto the 4LP size of the original Alive and Well release from back in 2020 - so difficult decisions had to be made.
If you missed my previous Alive and Well compilations, check out 2020 and 2021 below!
Storm Sound Presents: Alive and Well 2020!
Thank you SO much to @Madisonhuvan on Twitter for the amazing artwork! For those of you who may not know, Goose released the “Alive and Well” live compilation in April 2020, putting together highlights from the latter part of 2019 to help ease new listeners in to their catalogue. Featuring standout performances like the 7/27/19 Peach Fest Arcadia and the…
Storm Sound Presents: Alive and Well 2021!
Following up on the hypothetical release of Alive and Well 2020 (check it out here), I am excited to present the second volume of my curated Goose compilations, this time covering the landmark year of 2021! As with the previous release, this is made to theoretically fit on a 4LP set - enjoy!
I set out originally with the intention of leaving off all sit-ins, Trey or otherwise - I want this to be a Goose-only release. Given how much happened in the 80+ shows played last year, it’s impossible to cover it all…but I did my best!
Without further ado…Alive and Well 2022!
Listen via Nugs.net here.
Thank you once again to the talented Madisonhuvan for designing the awesome artwork for this and to Neal Landry, 902Vickers, Jeff Hill, and Brian Brinkman for help putting the list of songs together!
Side A
9/30 Turbulence & The Night Rays - Richmond, VA (8:33)
One of 2022’s strongest debuts, this revived Vasudo track found a spot as a reliable first-set rocker!
6/25 Silver Rising - New York, NY (8:44)
The closest we’re going to get to Trey on this release…Peter’s performance on grand piano really adds an extra dimension to this version!
Side B
3/5 Echo of a Rose - Nashville, TN (21:18)
Kicking off one of (if not THE) best sets in Goose history, this 20-minute Echo is pure Rick-led fire. It’s unfinished, which leaves us an opportunity for later…
Side C
2/7 This Old Sea - Bozeman, MT (20:50)
Tender ballad GONE EVIL. Peter sirens, dark soloing, pounding drums…you’ll be headbanging in no time!
Side D
2/12 Red Bird - Pittsburgh, PA (23:16)
The mighty Pittsbird - this jam speaks for itself. Undisputed GOAT.
Side E
6/24 Animal - New York, NY (5:55)
Concise and rocking version of this song - its best form in my opinion. Move your body!
1/30 Wysteria Lane - San Francisco, CA (18:38)
With an underrated first blissy segment that plunges deep into one of Goose’s most evil jams, the legendary San Francisco Wysteria stands as one of the best and most efficient jams in the band’s history.
Side F
10/7 Pancakes - New Orleans, LA (19:56)
The only unfinished version of this song to date, the NOLA Cakes goes in a mellow direction and develops a beautiful motif introduced by Rick around the 11-minute mark.
Side G
2/3 Echo of a Rose - Portland, OR (20:29)
We can’t leave Echo unfinished on this release, now, can we? The most recent “second jam” played, Trevor leads the band into the darkness around halfway through and the space develops MENACINGLY from there. One of the best versions of the song ever.
Side H
10/1 Dripfield - Atlanta, GA (21:45)
Can’t end a 2022 compilation without a Dripfield. This is my favourite of the bunch, getting into a beautiful bliss jam in the second half with Rick at the helm. Truly a song that is emblematic of last year.
